About

The Institute of Native Knowledge is a not-for-profit program operating under the auspices of The Ink People Center for the Arts (www.inkpeople.org).

We are self-directing and Native-run with a goal of bringing to Native People and the non-Native world the still vital Fix the Earth philosophy indigenous to northwest California.

The organization is directed by its founder, Julian Lang, and reflects his leadership and commitment to the re-institution of indigenous knowledge to Native communities, including music, history, language, cultural practices, and spiritual belief.

Established in 1989 the Institute proudly points to a long list of accomplished work that has resulted in the transmission of cultural knowledge to many thousands via art, writing, teaching, lectures, workshops and performances.
