Return To Language
We have just finished our first year of working with the Karuk Tribe’s Master/Apprentice program. Julian Lang is a participating master and has been working with Emilio Tripp on several language projects. There are 6 teams and 8 apprentices. Each team will plan and prepare audio and video files to help document the Karuk language.
Some of the videos prepared by Lang and Tripp are located on the Institute’s site. More are forthcoming. This marks the first week of the new program year. The plan for the Institute is to post a language blog article once a week.
Keep a look out.

Hi there, I’m not Karuk but I’m interested in revival efforts of Native languages. This site looks pretty promising. Do you know of any books on Karuk that go more into grammar and such? I think there’s one by Bright, but is there a more modern up-to-date one?
thanks,

No, there’s not a grammar for our language.
I found mention of “The Karok Language” 1957 by William Bright. It was apparently reissued by the tribe itself in 2003. Perhaps it’s not a grammar as such. Anyway, keep up the good work!!
